It looks like the Supreme Court, guided once again by A) a profoundly impaired understanding of how schools work and B) a belief that it's unconstitutional to interfere with a religious conservative's desire to organize the world to suit their beliefs--
One thing to add here is simply that one of the things opting out tells kids is that what we do in school is not relevant to the real world. We strip it of everything that we might find in life because it’s new or uncomfortable or strange to us and make schools so sanitary and disconnected that the kids will disconnect. No wonder they find social media and virtual worlds more interesting and engaging.
Satire is making a serious comeback. Sometimes the absurdity of the world requires it.
