I'm old enough to remember when you could have a reasonably civilized conversation with Corey DeAngelis on social media, and everyone is old enough to remember when his main social media function was to lead a small army of trolls against anyone who dared to oppose the right wing school privatizing culture panic crowd (we can all remember that because it was as recent as about a week ago).
Though it seems a long time ago, it's relatively recently that vituperative exchanges from DeAngelis, Tina Descovitch, and others (Keri Rodriguez comes to mind in the successful MA campaign to cap charter growth) became the norm. It used to make one wonder what's wrong with this person. Self-hate seems to be a thing, I guess.
And yet Rotherman couldn't help himself from dropping these two specious tidbits...
1. "Some of his positions don’t rise to the level of hypocrisy – for instance plenty of gay people think the current obsession with drag by progressive parents of kindergartners is a little strange and performative." Taking your child to a drag story hour at the local public library doesn't mean you're "obsessed" with anything other than getting your kid to love books and reading.
2. "Plenty of gay and transgender people don’t think schools should get in front of or supplant parents on gender transitions." Schools and teachers are not involved in "gender transitions".
This kind of trolling is irresponsible, and exhausting.
