I worked as a middle school counselor. I remember having discussions with the kids about why they needed a larger vocabulary. I used to ask them if they would rather color with the basic box of 8 crayons or did they preferred the box of 128. Words are what we use to "paint" our stories and the more words we have the more shades, tones and depth we can give our work. That analogy often connected.
