I think the major issue here is that many people seem to conflate the terms "partisan" and "political" it's pretty reasonable that government employees aren't supposed to engage in partisan behaviors while at work, but even the definition of partisan pretty narrowly refers to campaign activities or showing support for a specific political candidate or party. As much as some might want to believe, ideas cannot be partisan. A generally staunch Democrat supporter can support police, a generally staunch Republican supporter can want free lunch for students.

More dangerously, it represents a complete lack of critical thinking and an inability (or unwillingness) to engage with people who disagree with you. This is a recipe for a closed-off and hateful society. A proper education should include discussion of ideas you don't agree with and methods for determining the truth or falsity of a claim, as well as the values leading to such ideas.
