This week we're getting a barrage of reviews of The Two-Parent Privilege, a book that presents the unsurprising conclusion that having two stably married parents is good for kids.
I love your Substack! Seems that you might need another category here though. There is a pretty big difference between a single parent who has a co-parent that helps to raise and financially support the kiddo(s) and a single parent who has 100% custody and no financial help.
Excellently put. It is, in fact possible to recognize and ameliorate the systemic conditions we subject people to while also expecting personal responsibility. It takes a very mean-spirited person to think punishing people for their entire lives is a good way to live.
