Oddly enough, I wrote a very similar piece four years ago, but that space on the Forbes.com server is now occupied by a piece marketing teacher appreciation gifts. I was going to just send that piece out into the world again, but since I can’t, I wrote a new version of the similar sentiment.
A colleague, an English teacher, had a practice of asking (not requiring!) her students to send a note to other teachers in the building around Thanksgiving. Some of those students kept the practice across many years. Retired now, I've two folders of these notes spanning decades.
Exactly. This. Appreciate teachers? Join them in advocating for decent pay and great working conditions.
