This week Leslie Postal wrote a piece for the South Florida Sun Sentinel covering the new edict from the state sex education in Florida must henceforth be non-sex education.
I’m a lifelong Floridian and your observation is spot on. This also applies to making public policy statements only on Xitter rather than talking to the press.
This also reminds me of how pernicious “word of mouth regulation” was in the schools. My wife would frequently come home from school with a story about something they had to do or weren’t allowed to do that seemingly made no sense. When you dig into it a bit, it was always “somebody said” or “we were told” yet nobody up the chain of authority could really cite the law, regulations or court rulings that actually required it. The so called Rule of Law is superseded by the Threat of law[suit or enforcement] that intimidates into self limitation far beyond what the actual law requires.
