This was just dumb. Pennsylvania has a massive cyber charter sector, massive at least in part because the state's cyber charter funding system is like a opium dispenser in an unguarded gerbil cage. Simple question, and I’m not being sarcastic here, but simply want an answer: What can a PA citizen do about this? To whom does one write? Are there simple things one can post on social media? If I just share this, I guarantee few will read it. It’s so important, but it’s too long for my average Facebook friends to be bothered reading. Thanks for any suggestions.
It's a real problem. As I mentioned, almost every school district in the state has signed a resolution calling for reform. School officials keep calling their local legislator. There isn't a district in the state that hasn't been hit financially. And the legislators just keep failing to do anything. Keep calling and emailing your rep. But the short, unfortunate answer is that I don't know what would get them to stop listening to lobbyists and start listening to constituents.
Sadly, “I’m going to finish online” is usually just a euphemism for “I’m dropping out of school.”
