I deeply appreciate this post. My district is about to lean hard into push for "Standards based grading," and it has been infuriating listening to the kook-aid salesman insist that it will be such a perfect system.

There is no perfect grading system!! New initiatives (that are just rehashed old initiatives) take the joy out of Back to School.

I feel like policy decisions often come down to people who think humans are complex, and people who think humans are 1-dimensional and perfectly describable by science.
