Peter, I usually support you 100%, but must respond. I do NOT condone the way this trans athlete was treated. My older daughter played varsity high school tennis, and my younger one ran track on the varsity team. Having to compete with a trans athlete is grossly unfair to a female who is a fully genetic female from birth. ‘Nuff said.
P. S. The title of this article does attract the eye of the reader, but it is inflammatory. You can do better. The female players (non-trans) have a right to fair competition.
I know a couple of transgender people. There's nothing to disagree about. Trans girls are GIRLS. Trans boys are BOYS. There is absolutely no reason a transgirl cannot play on the girls' team. They are just people who don't like the body they were born into. They've have ALWAYS EXISTED. They also, way too often, DO NOT have supportive family or friends. Far too many trans teenagers commit suicide. Just imagine literally hating the body you were born into. It would be incredibly painful. Then add in bullshit like this and attitudes like yours and you'd want to commit suicide too.
It sounds like the players themselves already had the issue well in hand by refusing to wear the bands. That forced the few who perhaps wanted to wear them to publicly own their choice. Most teens value the respect and acceptance of their peers over being different - especially when that difference involves being an a**hole.
The school & police seem largely responsible for escalating the situation with the parents’ wristbands. Would the action have been the same if the two were loudly booing w/o the bands? I think the other parents would respond if the pair were getting too far out of line.
They were seeking attention by provocation and the school fell right into it.

Go fuck yourself. Bigot😤
So sorry you cannot acknowledge a different opinion then respond with an obscene comment. Too bad so sad.
