He struck me as one of those people who jump from one prestigious, well-paying edu-job to another, using his well-honed vocabulary of bland talking points to make even more money. "Every kid deserves a good school" kinda talking points, based on nothing more than a high-cost exclusive education and a surfeit of confidence.
