Here in MA, activists convened on the State House on Wednesday to persuade the Education Committee to favorably report out the Thrive Act. That act would eliminate state receivership (based on test scores), the requirement of a passing score on MCAS (MA's state assessment) to receive a diploma, and create a committee to develop a better statewide evaluation of student learning. Eight communities have been piloting MCIEA,(https://mciea.org/ )for example.

Speakers were limited to TWO, 2, two, minutes. We were also admonished to introduce ourselves and it's a courtesy to greet the panel. If you talk really quickly, you've got 1:35 to make your case. Democracy in action!
