The Heritage Foundation is the outfit behind all manner of far-right baloney. These days they're most notable for dropping big bucks to create Project 2025, the right wing Cliff's Notes for the nest Trump Presidency (including dismantling education).
As a collective, we’re straight up schizophrenic. We consent to endless expenses while making zero investments. The “confederacy of dunces” guy totally overestimated us.
This touches on the larger issue(s) of how we fund our schools. In many areas the bulk of the funding comes from property taxes. Those parents wanting that “backpack full of cash” so they can make their own choices need to look at their own property tax bill and see how little they personally contributed to their kids’ education. Those actually paying the $8-10k per child per year are rare indeed.

I have no evidence but I believe that Heritage (or some similar organization) is coaching Judge Cannon on how to rule on Jack Smith's motions.
