It's been NAEP week, prompting all manner of data spasms among any education policy people who weren't already staggering under the weight of Trump's zone flooding.
There are many factors contributing to the decline of public education in this state - no one big thing. However, underlying most of them is the quarter century of monolithic GOP rule in Florida. Comparing the quality my children received versus what they are struggling to obtain for their kids is light years apart. Florida is the example for the nation of what end-stage enshitification looks like.
Peter, someone online told me that private schools do take the NAEP. Do they have to opt in?
Just a thought - perhaps the lower scores come as fewer kids attend the public schools where teachers are actually certified through university preparation?
