Coincidentally, I just finished reading When McKinsey Comes to Town and the core message of that book was that many McKinsey projects are aimed at dismantling public institutions in the interest of private profit to company executives and shareholders. It seems many of their consultants believe they can apply MBAs to any situation, whether or not they have expertise in that field.
