I liked your four categories, or your English teachers from long ago, any way. I use a simpler scheme: there are books whose main attribute is that they are well written. Most of these books are in the "all style, no substance" category. Then there are books whose main attribute is that they contain a ripping good story. Most of these books are "all story, little style" in nature. When you find a book that is very well written and contains a really good story, that book is worth reading multiple times.
