As a former classroom teacher (chemistry, of all things) I had my students answer test questions that required handwritten, verbal arguments. Having no access to any AI during tests eliminated all such assistance. I even coached students how to construct valid verbal arguments, modeled them, and even used some of the models as test questions. Students who couldn't answer the model questions clearly had done no serious studying.

I retired early from teaching when I realized that many of my students had been crippled by a system that didn't require them to learn how to study/work and so were flummoxed when poised with the learning I was asking of them. Clearly I was not a teacher who was going to help them and there was no way I had to select students who could benefit from my teachings instead.
