My inclination is to argue that you, and I, are being fuddy duddies about this. Time moves on and processes and learning changes but your title, I think, reflects the problem. The thinking is being outsourced and that's not just the future knocking on the door with all sorts of new tricks but a potential dumbing down of people. We're just watching.

Similarly, I think I've read that there are studies showing that using GPS versus using some sort of mental map actually atrophies our brains or at least doesn't help them.

On yet another level, the fact that we've rushed into AI at the behest of (and profit to) the 1% tells you something. Nobodies concerned about anyone's education. Per usual in a country run by corporations, it's all about profit. Theirs.
